DTASC (Drama Teachers Association of Southern California)
DTASC was such a fun experience. DTASC is one day where many schools perform and compete against each other. We were chosen as one of the schools to participate and compete against other schools. There are different categories such as Drama, Comedy, Musical, etc. I was given a scene with 4 other partners and had to perform in front of judges from different schools. It was a great experience because it was my first time performing in front of an audience I didn't know. I learned how to get over stage fright, how to move, and play the part. We didn't do well in the competition, but it was fun. We got to see other great schools perform and it was mesmerizing how serious other schools took this. But we met so many cool people, it was such a happy environment. It felt like I've known everyone for years, that's how enthusiastic and comforting kids from other schools were.

One Act
This assignment is where Seniors in Advanced Drama direct, produce, and star in a play. We choose Senior directors, Senior producers, and then they choose Seniors or any underclassmen actors/actresses if needed. The play I was assigned is The Red Coat. My director is Connie Bahng, my producer is Ryan Hung, my co-star is Mariah Puente who plays Mary, and I play the role of John. This one act play is about a guy named John seeing the girl he loves outside a party. He expresses his real feelings toward her and catches her off guard. Many surprises occur when he tells her how she truly feels. It's a fun piece and I am glad I was chosen for this role. This project is the most important because it assembles everything we ever learned in class. We will be able to set up the stage how we want, use the actions we want, and basically do everything on our own. It can either be a hit or a miss, depending on how hard you work. But it really puts you to the test and it is performed for anyone who would like to see it.
Revolutionary Road Scene
A scene we were assigned is from the movie Revolutionary Road. We were instructed to memorize, block, and play all the actions correctly. We had about a week and a half to practice before the official performance in class. Revolutionary Road is about a young couple who is married. They were both having issues and cheating on each other. The scene my partner Kara Chuang and I did, was when both, Frank and April, were at their tipping point, and was having the biggest argument they have encountered. It is very malicious and loud piece. But it has a really big impact when watching. This was one of my favorite pieces because we really were able to play with it and figure out the right actions to do and Iv'e never done an argumental piece. I now know that I can do argumental pieces, and still give that tension and frustration to the audience when watching.
